A New Yorker was bitten by her cat upon her return to her home in The Villages.
Lady Lake Animal Control received a bite report on Aug. 29 from the Lake County Health Department but it was several days later before the animal control officer could investigate because town offices were closed due to Hurricane Dorian.
The animal control officer on Sept. 4 paid a visit to the home in the Village of Mira Mesa and spoke to the bite victim and her husband.
The woman said they had just arrived from New York when her 8-year-old grey Tiger cat named Ollie was under the bed with a leg stuck in the box spring, according to an incident report. She was trying to get the cat unstuck when Ollie bit her on the forearm.
The woman was able to provide proof that the cat had been vaccinated in August at the Clifton Park Veterinary Clinic in New York.
