A Lady Lake man has been arrested after fleeing a crash at State Road 44 and Morse Boulevard.
Kadarin Jaferis Cuyler, 28, was booked on a long list of charges this weekend at the Sumter County Detention Center following his release from a local hospital.
He had been at the wheel of a silver Ford Mustang at 2:53 p.m. Thursday when he was caught on radar traveling 51 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone at Warm Springs Avenue near Morse Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy directed Cuyler to pull over and he initially indicated he would do so. Then he sped away.
Cuyler’s silver Mustang crashed near a water-filled ditch on State Road 44 at Morse Boulevard. Cuyler fled on foot, but was apprehended a short distance from the crash site.
Cuyler has had multiple license suspensions and convictions for driving while license suspended. He is on felony probation for those driving while license suspended convictions.
A deputy checked the Mustang and spotted a green Crown Royal bag hanging from the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. Marijuana, a digital scale and cellophane baggies were found in the bag.
Cuyler was arrested on charges of hit and run, resisting arrest, driving while license suspended, possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment.
