Sumter sheriff’s detectives seeking help in Oxford homicide investigation

Sumter County sheriff’s detectives are investigating an apparent homicide that took place at a home in Oxford.

Detectives were called to a residence at 11522 County Road 223 on Saturday in regards to an unresponsive female. First responders arrived on scene and discovered the woman dead inside the home, a sheriff’ office report states.

The woman, who has not yet been positively identified, appears to have died as a result of homicidal violence. But detectives are withholding the
cause of death and still investigating the crime, the report says.

Detectives are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the woman’s identity, as well as anyone she associated with so they can establish a motive for the murder. They will be following up leads and conducting interviews with associates and potential witnesses as the case moves forward, the report says.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (352) 793-2621. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
