Victim and person of interest identified in Oxford homicide case

Sumter County sheriff’s detectives have released the name of an apparent homicide victim in Oxford and also have identified a person of interest in the case.

Jenetta Floyd, 68, was found dead inside a residence at 11522 County Road 223 on Saturday. First responders discovered her body after being dispatched to a call of an unresponsive female.

Detective say Floyd appeared to have died as the result of homicidal violence. They have identified an unnamed associate of Floyd as a person of interest, a sheriff’s office report states.

Detectives will continue to follow up on leads and conduct interviews with associates and potential witnesses as the case moves forward.
