Wildwood drunk driving suspect refuses to perform field sobriety exercises

Wendy Sue Sellers

A Wildwood woman suspected of drunk driving refused to perform field sobriety exercises during a traffic stop Friday night on County Road 466A in Fruitland Park.

Wendy Sue Sellers, 44, had been at the wheel of a silver van shortly before midnight when a Lake County sheriff’s deputy noticed she was having difficulty maintaining a single lane of traffic. She nearly struck a large construction cone, according to the arrest report. County Road 466A is under heavy construction in Fruitland Park.

When Sellers was approached by the deputy during a traffic stop, the deputy found Sellers had “a hard time understanding the questions” she was being asked. She also had “a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her person.”

Sellers, who admitted she had two previous drunk driving arrests, refused to participate in field sobriety exercises. She also refused to provide a breath sample and refused to sign a citation issued to her by the deputy.

She was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $7,000 bond.
