Joint failure with stormwater pipe prompts golf cart detour along Canal Street

Four orange cones and tape were set up Wednesday marking the spot where a hole was created in the sod after the pipe failure along Canal Street near its intersection with Odell Circle.

Sumter County Administrator Bradley Arnold confirmed the hole was a result of the pipe failure and not a sinkhole, a rumor which had been making the rounds on social media in The Villages.

Lime green cones were set up in the golf cart lane, directing carts around the affected area.
