Lake County Sheriff’s Office gearing up for reaccreditation assessment

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is preparing for an onsite evaluation in December to determine the agency’s eligibility for reaccreditation.

The assessment, which must occur every three years, will take place December 3-5. During that time, a team consisting of three external assessors will be at the sheriff’s office reviewing the agency’s policies, practices and security measures to verify compliance with standards put forth through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

The sheriff’s office received its initial accreditation in 2007 and has been reaccredited in 2010, 2013 and 2016. Maintaining accredited status is a continuing goal of sheriff’s office personnel.
