Wildwood man behind bars on multiple child pornography charges

Joseph Ray Godsey

A Wildwood man was jailed Friday – his second arrest this week – on multiple counts of possession of child pornography.

Detectives from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office who are assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested 41-year-old Joseph Ray Godsey after receiving a tip about a possible crime involving child pornography within the county. The detectives conducted an investigation and were able to trace the child pornography to Godsey’s Wildwood residence, where they executed a search warrant.

Godsey was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center on Friday afternoon on 15 counts of possession of child pornography and is being held on $225,000 bond. He also had been arrested late Wednesday afternoon and was out on $1,000 bond after being charged with possession of drug equipment.
