A battle over dog grooming led to a customer’s ban from a popular local pet store.

Lady Lake police were called shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday to PetSmart at Village Crossroads after the customer launched a verbal tirade at store employees.

When officers arrived on the scene, the 41-year-old Lady Lake woman was shooting video with her phone of the store’s employees, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The report indicated the store employees were “looking at the computer, seemingly afraid to speak.”

Officers asked the woman for identification, but instead of providing it, she attempted to leave the store. She ignored the requests from officers and “became argumentative.” After she finally produced her driver’s license, she demanded the police officers’ names and badge numbers, which they provided.

Store employees said the woman had been denied a grooming appointment because her dog previously bit a groomer, the report said. After being told this over the phone, the woman showed up at the store 45 minutes later and began to argue with PetSmart employees over her inability to book an appointment.

She has been banned from the store.
