Two people were arrested with drugs and a large amount of cash after speeding on Interstate 75.
Antoine Lamar Whitter, 37, of Ocala, was at the wheel of a black 2007 Chevy Avalanche SUV at about 3 a.m. Tuesday at Mile Marker 322 on Interstate 75 when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy paced the Avalanche traveling at 82 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone.
A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene of the traffic stop and the dog alerted on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up cocaine, heroin, marijuana and a scale. There was also a medium-sized box of sandwich baggies in the vehicle, prompting law enforcement to believe the drugs were being sold.
Whitter also had $2,670 in cash in his right front pocket in multiple denominations of $100, $50 and $20 bills.
A passenger in the vehicle, 30-year-old Lacie Music, of Belleview, had a clear plastic bag in her purse and the bag contained a rock which field tested positive for amphetamine. She also had a pipe which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Whitter and Music were taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
Whitter’s bond was set at $21,000. Music’s bond was set at $3,000.
