Four-story Hilton hotel will be built across from Pinellas Plaza

A four-story Hilton hotel is planned across from The Villages’ Pinellas Plaza on the Beaumont property near the northeast corner of County Road 466A and Powell Road.

The Beaumont Home2 Suites Hotel will be designed for extended stays with studio and one-bedroom suites. It will feature an outdoor pool and lounge with about 100 parking spaces surrounding the building. Construction is expected to be completed by December 2020.

Special Magistrate Grant Watson Tuesday recommended approval of a site plan for the 55,706-square-foot hotel on about 2.5 acres. The Wildwood City Commission likely will take a final vote on the plan later this month.

Watson’s recommendation is conditioned on the developer resolving issues raised by the city engineer and Sumter County Fire Rescue, as well as the city’s development services and utility departments.

Hilton’s Home2 Suites hotels are located in many cities such as Atlanta, Birmingham, Kansas City and San Antonio. Suites feature a working wall with a work space and personal storage. One-bedroom suites have sleeper sofas and dining tables. Amenities include saltwater pools, fitness centers and laundry facilities.

Last month, Wildwood commissioners approved the final plat for the first phase of the Beaumont development, which is next to Trailwinds Village.

The first phase, planned for completion by the end of next year, will include 133 single-family homes, 134 townhouses or duplexes and 14 commercial lots on about 154 acres.

Beaumont eventually will have 271 homes along three residential streets. Single-family homes are planned for the rear portion of the property, with townhouses or duplexes behind the commercial lots along County Road 466A.
