A trespasser was arrested with methamphetamine at the Wawa at County Road 466 and U.S. 301 in Oxford.
A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday had been asked to make a well-being check on a person in a truck at one of the gas pumps.
That individual was identified as 40-year-old Thomas Stephen Kudela of Oxford and it was determined that he had been previously trespassed from the site by Wawa management.
After Kudela was arrested on a trespassing charge, an inventory of his backpack turned up an eyeglass case which contained six syringes and a folded gum wrapper which contained methamphetamine.
Kudela was arrested on additional charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment.
Kudela, who had been arrested on Black Friday in 2017 at the Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in the Villages, was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $3,500 bond.
