To the Editor:
This past week I’ve had three incidences of dog poop on my yard more than 100 feet from the curb. Yes, that old chestnut again.
There are two laws in Sumter County – trespass which is enforced by local police and animal control enforced by a Sumter County officer. Both violators must be caught red-handed by an officer. Photos are not accepted. Unfortunately these laws are useless to we property owners, and the violators know they can get away with it. Hence the abuse of the laws by one property owner to another. It’s not fair you say, but that’s what goes on in the friendly Villages.
I believe the folks who do these unkind acts to their neighbor don’t think they are causing ill will. Its just a little dog poop! Not so. I’m 84 years old and mow my land with a walk-behind mower, edge and leaf blow, my yard is impeccable, and their dogs crap causes me undue resentment, not to the dog but the bad neighbor who doesn’t have the decency to even police the poop. How hard is it to put a leash on your pet and carry a plastic poop bag? Try being a good neighbor!
