A Lady Lake man who admitted to mixing medical marijuana with beer was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
Steven Amole, 32, had been driving a white van at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday when he was pulled over at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Spring Lake Road after the van swerved out of its lane of traffic, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy noticed the “strong odor of alcoholic beverage” coming from Amole’s breath. In addition, his eyes were “bloodshot and glassy,” the report said.
Amole said he had consumed “two beers” but later admitted it could have been three beers. He also said he had injured his legs in a car accident and had a medical marijuana card. He said his last dose of medical marijuana had been at noon that day.
He performed poorly in field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .148 and .146 blood alcohol content.
Amole’s vehicle was turned over to his wife. Amole was arrested on a DUI charge and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
