Jonathan Herrick

A Lady Lake man was arrested after crashing his vehicle into a business on Main Street in Wildwood.

Officers were called at 2:20 a.m. Sunday to the 700 block of Main Street where a dark-colored Ford Mustang had pushed through the wall of a business, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The driver was identified as 28-year-old Jonathan Webster Herrick. He was “slurring his words” and “unable to keep good balance,” according to the report.

Herrick was taken to The Villages Regional Hospital for evaluation. He refused to participate in field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a breath sample. He said he wanted a lawyer.

He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and refusal to provide a breath sample. He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $1,500 bond.
