A Lady Lake man was arrested after allegedly threatening a woman and her dog with a knife.
John David Boutwell, 47, is facing a third degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following his arrest Tuesday afternoon by Lady Lake police. The altercation occurred near his home in the 400 block of Winners Circle.
The woman told police that Boutwell brandished a pocket knife and asked her “if she wanted to be stabbed first or have the dog stabbed first.” The woman said she had been in fear for her life and also afraid for her dog. She said she has previously had problems with Boutwell.
When police made contact with Boutwell, he turned over the knife and confirmed what the woman had told them.
Boutwell was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
