CSX train strikes Lady Lake man’s pickup truck stuck on railroad tracks

A CSX train struck a Lady Lake man’s pickup truck early Sunday morning that was stuck on railroad tracks in Wildwood.

The CSX train was traveling northbound at about 5 a.m. Sunday on the railroad tracks near County Road 105 and U.S. Hwy. 301, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The train’s engineer was not able to stop in time before striking a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup owned by Thomas Patrick Rutig of 206 Hawthorne Ave. in Lady Lake. The truck was unoccupied and got stuck on the tracks, the report indicated.

Damage to the truck was estimated at $15,000. It was towed from the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Rutig had been arrested earlier this year after he was caught driving on license with multiple suspensions.
