Paul Francis Amato

Paul Amato

Paul Francis Amato, age 78, of Summerfield, FL passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 after a 10-year battle with mantle cell lymphoma.

He was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 16, 1941. He is a 1964 Cum Laude graduate of Seton Hall University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Theology. Paul served in the US Army Medical Corps from 1964 to 1970 and achieved the rank of Specialist 8. His career was that of an Institutional Corporate Bond Trader with some of the most prestigious bankers on Wall Street. In semi-retirement, Paul went to work for the NASDAQ, where he and his team developed a transparency system for bonds which ensured that no manipulation of bond prices could go undetected.

In 2003, Paul and his wife Judy retired and moved to Florida where they made many wonderful friends. Paul was the most honorable, kind man his family and friends have ever known, and the best husband and father anyone could have ever hoped for. He enjoyed good wine, trap shooting, collecting rare guns, and he loved his Corvette, Jaguar, and his “grand-dog” Buddy.

He is survived by his wife Judith Amato (nee Coluccio); daughter Erika Amato (Jeff Stacy); sisters Marianne Reason (Donald) and Theresa Knaack; and brother-in-law Daniel Coluccio (Carol Lee). He was preceded in death by brother-in-law William Knaack.

Mass of Christian Burial Service will be celebrated at St Mark The Evangelist Church, 7081 SE Highway 42, Summerfield, FL 34491 on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mayo Clinic in the name of Dr Lawrence Solberg who treated Paul for many years.
