Brisk progress is being made on the new Publix grocery store at Trailwinds Village on County Road 466A in Wildwood.
Ground was broken a little more than a month ago for the new store.
The store will be 49,000 square feet with a liquor store of 1,400 square feet. There will also be 8,400 square feet of local retail space connected to the building.
It is anticipated that the new Publix will open in the summer of 2020.
A spokesman for Barclay Group, the developer of Trailwinds Plaza, also indicated that a First Watch cafe is coming to the retail center, which is located across from Pinellas Plaza in The Villages.
Lowe’s Home Improvement was the first store to open at Trailwinds Village, followed in rapid succession by an ALDI grocery store, ABC Fine Wine and Spirits, a Circle K gas station and other retail.
