Golf cart driver transported to LRMC after near miss with landscaper on mower

A man was ejected from a golf cart after a near miss with a landscaper on a mower Monday afternoon in The Villages.

The man in the golf cart shortly after 2 p.m. had been traveling north on the multi-modal path near Stillwater Trail and Buena Vista Boulevard when the mower stopped to do a U-turn, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The golf cart swerved to avoid the mower and the man driving the golf cart was ejected. He was transported by ambulance to Leesburg Regional Medical Center.

There was no contact between the golf cart and mower.

At this point, no one has been cited in the mishap, but the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office indicated.
