Setting the record straight on the air gun range

To the Editor

The sport of airgun shooting has been actively involved in competition in The Villages for about 20 years. I personally have competed here in The Villages for about 16 years now.
I currently belong to The Villages Air Gun Club.
Safety is paramount in our sport. In the past 20 years of active competition and recreational shooting there has never been an injury as a result of any airgun, pistol or rifle.
There have been more injuries some serious as a result of pickleball, softball, tennis, track and field, basketball etc. (You get the idea) requiring hospitalization and permanent injury.
While we’re at it, take a look at the archery range which runs parallel to Hw.y 441 near the golf cart bridge.
Your chance of being injured is greater trying to navigate through our many traffic circles.
If anyone would like to meet me at one of the airgun ranges I would be happy to offer you the opportunity to experience a fun and rewarding safe sport.
