Wildwood man taken to hospital after injuring arm while breaking window

Justin Jernigan

A Wildwood man was taken to UF Health Leesburg Hospital after injuring his arm while breaking a window.

Justin Wayne Jernigan, 36, allegedly woke a sleeping man when he broke his window at about 4 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s office. Jernigan stuck his head through the broken window and told the man, “I’m coming to get you.”

Jernigan then asked the man to give him a ride to the hospital for the treatment of his arm, which was “heavily bleeding.” He took Jernigan to the hospital and then signed an intent to prosecute after contacting law enforcement.

Jernigan was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
