The Florida Highway Patrol has released an accident report detailing a chain-reaction crash Monday afternoon near the Oakland Hills development on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Sumter County.
An 83-year-old Summerfield man had been driving a sport utility vehicle at 1:14 p.m. when he suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle.
His SUV struck the rear of sedan driven by a 48-year-old Summerfield woman which had been stopped in traffic.
The impact of the crash forced her vehicle into the rear of a sport utility vehicle driven by a 79-year-old woman from The Villages. She and her 81-year-old male passenger were not injured.
The driver who suffered the medical emergency and the woman driving the sedan suffered minor injuries, the report said.
The people involved in the accident were not identified due to a new policy enacted by the FHP.
