Woman loading groceries into vehicle arrested at Buffalo Ridge Wal-Mart

Kathleen Helen VanSant

A woman who was loading groceries into her vehicle was arrested at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.

Kathleen Helen VanSant, 38, of Summerfield, was spotted by the store’s loss prevention office at about 4 p.m. Sunday at the store, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She was acting “suspiciously” and a check revealed VanSant had been trespassed from the store in 2016. The trespass order remains in effect.

When a deputy arrived on the sign, the loss prevention officer pointed out VanSant, who was loading groceries into her vehicle.

She was arrested on a charge of trespassing and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.

VanSant had been arrested this past December in the store’s parking lot.

VanSant was arrested in 2017 after an incident involving stolen items and a U-Haul. She was arrested in 2016 after attempting to steal a shopping cart loaded with items at Wal-Mart in Summerfield.
