Henry Wofford Lennox

An employee was arrested on a theft charge at a Sunoco gas station in Wildwood.

Henry Wofford Lennon, 47, of Wildwood, was booked shortly before midnight Monday on a charge of theft at the Sumter County Detention Center.

The manager of the Sunoco service station at the corner of U.S. 301 and State Road 44 contacted Wildwood police when she noticed the balance in her morning paperwork was off by more than $400. She discovered there had been refunds issued for five propane tanks at $59.99 each, even though no propane tanks had been sold. The cash drawer was also short by $92, according to an arrest report.

Video surveillance showed Lennox scanning the barcodes of the propane tanks for the refund transactions. It also showed Lennox putting cash into his pocket.

His bond was set at $1,000.
