Sheriff searching for tequila bandit who hit two Publix stores in The Villages

A woman who carries a striped grocery bag and likes to steal tequila and food from Villages grocery stores is being sought by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the woman pictured above, who is accused of stealing groceries and bottles of tequila from Publix stores in The Villages.

The woman pictured above entered the Publix at 1566 Bella Cruz Drive on the morning of May 2 and left the store with food and bottles of Patron Tequila. She also was believed to have committed an unreported theft at the Publix store in the Colony Plaza at 327 Colony Blvd., a sheriff’s office report states.

On May 5, the woman was again spotted by employees at the Colony Plaza store, possibly attempting another theft at the liquor store. She was seen leaving in a white GMC or Chevrolet SUV. She was carrying the same striped bag with her each time.
