Villages lowers bar for face masks while Disney makes masks mandatory

The Villages has eased up on its requirement for face masks while Disney World has announced when it reopens in July, masks will be required.

Signs at recreation centers in The Villages which previously stated that “Face Masks Are Required for All Indoor and Outdoor Activities” have been replaced with signs that say, “Face Masks are Requested for All Indoor and Outdoor Activities.”

The Villages has adjusted its policy on face masks. Previously, they were required. Now, they are requested.

Residents are still being asked to bring their own water, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes.

Meanwhile, Disney World officials have announced that they hope to reopen the theme park on July 11.

The company said it plans to enact “high-energy squads” of employees who will roam the parks checking to make sure people are wearing masks. Disney officials said they might offer “relaxation zones” where people will be allowed to remove their face masks. Character meet-and-greets will be paused as the park reopens, and all play areas will be temporarily closed.
