The national convenience store chain 7-Eleven continues to offer a franchise opportunity as work proceeds at the Colony Plaza location in The Villages.
The contractor working on the location at 260 Colony Boulevard has applied for a permit to replace the refrigeration and air conditioning units. The underground gas tanks have already been replaced and there has been extensive renovation of the canopy in the parking lot.
A franchising opportunity remains available at the location.
“I had one of our current multiple franchisees buying it but he decided not to travel from the Tampa area. Just too far to drive,” said Doug Stevens, franchise sales representative for 7-Eleven.
Those interested must have minimum liquid assets of $50,000. The 7-Eleven franchise application is available at https://franchise.7-eleven.com/franchise/apply-now
The 7-Eleven is going in at the former home of Colony Shell, which abruptly shut down last summer. That closure also impacted The Burger Station eatery, which made its home at Colony Shell.
In 2018, 7-Eleven was eager to put a store on 1.405 acres at the intersection of Rolling Acres Road and County Road 466 in Lady Lake. However, 7-Eleven’s plans for that location gained little traction as the Lady Lake Commission was leery about allowing a gas station/convenience store to set up shop at an intersection famous for heavy traffic and numerous accidents. In January 2019, 7-Eleven representatives announced they were giving up on that location.
