A Ocala man was jailed after allegedly paying for a hotel room with counterfeit money.

Thomas Roy Corson, 29, has been jailed on $6,500 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center following his arrest this past weekend on charges of counterfeiting, larceny, resisting arrest and fraud.

Corson allegedly used counterfeit bills to pay for a room at the Days Inn on State Road 44 in Wildwood. He also used counterfeit money to pay for items at the Mobil service station, also on State Road 44, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

When an officer attempted to take Corson into custody, he attempted to pull away. He denied knowing the bills were phony.
