Wildwood police seeking golf cart bandit who targeted Brownwood Hotel and Spa

Wildwood police officers are asking for the public’s help in nabbing a golf cart thief who recently targeted the new Brownwood Hotel and Spa.

Wildwood Police officers are searching for the truck pictured above after the golf cart in the trailer was stolen recently. They also are searching for an older white man wearing a blue shirt and white shorts. The man also had white hair or was wearing a white visor.

The driver of the Atomic Orange 2020 Yamaha gas golf cart pulled into the facility on a recent afternoon and parked in the east parking lot near a Publix grocery store. About four hours later, an older white man with white hair or a white visor and wearing a blue shirt and white shorts is seen on surveillance video footage driving away in the golf cart, a police report states.

A dark-colored pickup, possibly a newer style Dodge Ram truck, is seen on another surveillance camera driving away with the golf cart in a small open U-Haul-style trailer. The truck was last seen driving to the south side of the hotel parallel with State Road 44, the report says.

Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Detective Jerry Smith with the Criminal Investigations Division at (352) 330-1355, ext. 3 or Crime Line at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
