Driver arrested after K-9 alerts on vehicle at Sam’s Club parking lot

A driver was arrested after a K-9 alerted on his vehicle during a traffic stop in the parking lot at Sam’s Club in Lady Lake.

Timothy Eric Evans, 38, of Leesburg, had been at the wheel of a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu at 2:20 a.m. May 29 when he was pulled over for a window tint violation, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

During the traffic stop, a K-9 alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs. Evans admitted there was marijuana under the driver’s seat. Police found 24 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.

Evans was arrested on a third-degree felony charge of possession of marijuana. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
