Ken Alan Cord

Ken Cord

Ken Alan Cord, 82, passed away at home May 31, 2020.

He is survived by his wife and companion of 44 years, Pamela, his daughter, Rea D. Cord, Tallassee, AL, his sister, Sherry Lyons (Dennis), Hanover, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both of his parents, Elmer and Lora Cord, and both of his brothers, Robert S. Cord, and J Gregory Cord.

Ken moved to Fruitland Park with his young family in March of 1959 and fell head over heels in love with Florida. He loved to fish and hunt and was avid at both in his younger years. Ken was a construction supervisor in Lake County for many years and later worked in The Bahamas, Nigeria and Turkmenistan. He loved to tell the story of being the victim of a “hit and run” by a camel while in Turkmenistan – he thought it was great fun to watch people’s expressions! In later years he managed Bronson’s ACE Hardware in Eustis and then opened the new Leesburg Lowe’s as the Hardware Pro. He loved his home and working on his property. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.

According to his wishes, there will be no service for Ken. If anyone cares to make a donation in his memory to your local animal shelter or to the DAV, that would be appreciated.
