Deputies taser suspect after chase on County Road 25 near County Line Bar

Deputies tasered a suspect after a chase on County Road 25 near the County Line Bar.

Eric Hart, 42, of Ocala, had been driving a dark colored pickup truck with no taglights Monday night when he was spotted by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy.

Hart would not pull over, turned off at the County Line Bar and then fled on foot from the vehicle, according to the arrest report. He did not stop despite multiple commands from the deputy.

As he was running, Hart appeared to throw an item from his shirt pocket. It turned out to be bags containing cocaine and heroin.

A deputy shot Hart with a taser and he was taken into custody.

Hart was also in possession of about $1,000 in cash.

He was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, fleeing to elude, resisting arrest and driving while license suspended. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $20,000 bond.
