Drone leads Lake County sheriff’s deputies to woman missing in preserve

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office recently put a drone to good use when searching for a missing person.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies were led to a missing woman who was spotted by a drone recently in the Ferndale Preserve near Monteverde.

Deputies received a call about a possible medical issue with a couple of people in the Ferndale Preserve near Montverde. Upon arrival, a man was located and he told them that a woman who was with him was somewhere in the preserve.

The man was transported to a hospital and a drone was called in as part of the sheriff’s office’s Ground Controlled Aerial Vehicle unit. The woman was located in good health and soon met up with several deputies who were searching for her. It marked the first “find” for the sheriff’s office using a drone.
