Lady Lake police arrest woman with drugs after K-9 alerts on car

Samantha Mae Gilley

Lady Lake police arrested a woman with methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana after a K-9 alerted on the car she was driving.

Samantha Mae Gilley, 31, of Belleview, was at the wheel of a 2007 Honda Accord at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when she was stopped for an improper rear turn signal at Clay Avenue and Hermosa Avenue, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

An officer asked to search the vehicle, but Gilley would not provide consent. A K-9 alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.

During a search, a Natural American Spirit cigarette box was found in Gilley’s waistband. It contained bags containing 4 grams of marijuana, .5 grams of methamphetamine and .5 grams of heroin.

Gilley was arrested on three counts of drug possession and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $5,000.

Police determined that the car Gilley was driving belonged to a friend. An officer attempted to call the car’s owner and left a voicemail. The vehicle was towed by Kling Towing to the impound yard in Fruitland Park.
