Charles J. Maky

Charles Maky

Charles J. (Chuck) Maky, 75, of The Villages, FL passed away on July 9, 2020.

He is survived by his wife of Gerda of 52 years; son, Ralf and daughter-in-law, Susan and their beloved dog, Ziggy.

Chuck was born in Detroit, MI, graduated from Culver Military Academy, attended Eastern Michigan University and graduated from University of Detroit.  He was a Vietnam Veteran, the recipient of a Purple Heart and at time of discharge form the Army in 1972 held the rank of Captain.  He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs  as an Adjudication Officer and later with the Disabled American Veterans Organization.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman.  He was a proud member of The Villages Woodworkers, where he used his talents to create many beautiful things for others.  He repaired antiques for friends, spending many hours to restore heirlooms.  He taught many young people to love, respect and enjoy nature.  The impact he had on the young people will be felt for decades.  However, his goal in life was to be a loving husband, father and help Veterans and their families to get the support they deserved and often desperately needed.  He will be buried at sea with military honors.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.
