Driver airlifted from scene of crash involving five vehicles in The Villages

A driver who appears to have suffered a medical episode was airlifted from the scene of a crash involving five vehicles in The Villages.

The crash occurred at 3:15 p.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Griffin Avenue.

Emergency personnel were on the scene of a crash Monday afternoon at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Griffin Avenue in The Villages.

There were a total of eight people in the five vehicles involved in the crash, according to preliminary information from the Lady Lake Police Department. Multiple airbags in those vehicles appeared to have deployed.

A traffic investigator has been assigned due to the serious nature of the accident.

In addition to the Lady Lake Police Department, The Villages Public Safety Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
