Through a Villages-News.com survey, Villagers can send a message on a plan for apartments at the demolished Hacienda Hills Country Club site prior to a vote Wednesday morning by the Amenity Authority Committee.
The AAC will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Savannah Center to consider a request from the Developer for 300 amenity privileges that would be extended to apartment dwellers at the site of the Hacienda Hills Country Club which was recently demolished.
This may be the one opportunity for the residents to have a voice on the planned apartments. A site plan or any other future consideration would be up to the Sumter County Commission, which has a track record of accommodating the Developer’s wishes.
Villagers have been speaking out about the planned apartments, voicing concerns about increased traffic on Morse Boulevard and an influx of renters who would not have the same appreciation for amenities as homeowners. Others feel that the “county club lifestyle” promised by Villages founder Harold Schwartz has been tossed aside.
