To the Editor:
I’m not sure where Ms. Chernak is getting her information regarding the ineffectiveness of mask wearing. She cites WHO. So I went to the WHO and CDC website and simply searched “recommendations on mask wearing.” Both of these entities DO recommend mask wearing and for everyone over 2 years old. I won’t “paste” the info because I’m sure some will say that I’m taking it out of context – but PLEASE – before you make statements that could affect people around you, the information should be verified.
Yes, I do wear a mask. Yes, it makes me feel better and safer, but I do know for sure that it does help protect others around me; my friends, me neighbors, my fellow Villagers. And I sure wish they would wear a mask to help protect me, too.
To get facts from CDC, WHO on the benefits of mask wearing you simple Google: WHO (or CDC) recommendations on mask wearing.
And, YES, I believe the county (and the state) should mandate mask wearing. If we are willing to ban smoking to protect others from second hand smoke, this should be no different.
