COVID is not ‘deadly’ to children

To the Editor:

In the article “Deadly COVID-19 virus rears its head at Fruitland Park Elementary School again,” the word “Deadly” is misused.
The facts: Per FloridaHealth.gov as of Nov. 23, 2020, in Lake County the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 for the age group 0 to 27 years is ZERO.
Many reporters come with headlines that entice the readers to read their stories. But, in this case, using the word “Deadly” in the headline is unethical. There are enough scary things about this pandemic; we do not need misleading claims in headlines.
