Trump has told too many lies to count

To the Editor:

I intended this editorial to be a comprehensive collection of Trump’s lies and most outrageous statements since the beginning of his political career, but quickly became overwhelmed by my research into the sheer volume of the proven fabrications.
Many sources, including legitimate news outlets, research institutions and governmental departments have documented over 20,000 lies by Trump since taking office. So, you see my conundrum, where do I begin and what do I include?
I decided on a short list of his “greatest hits” which, although not comprehensive in any way, would support the gist of this posting.  I thought that a good place to start might be some of the lies told during his first campaign, including the ever popular “Obama was not born in America”, or “Hillary and Ted Cruz are owned and controlled by Wall Street.” Or how about this winner, “Ted Cruz’s father had a part in the Kennedy assassination.” “Mexico will pay for the wall.” “My father was born in the most beautiful part of Germany” (his father was born in NYC). Multiple false endorsements, “I’ll pay for my own campaign,” false claims of personal largess and accomplishments, and on and on.  And so it began.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.  A small fraction of his fabrications since being in office include the size of his inauguration crowd (right off the bat), the Ukraine, not Russia interfered in the 2016 election, the whistleblowers were all liars or disgruntled employees, Article 2 of the constitution lets me do whatever I want as President, and one of my favorites, we’re taxing the hell out of China with these tariffs.  And, the beat goes on.  I’m not even going to get into all the lies and garbage spewed about the election and how poor Donny got cheated, or about his criminal incompetence in dealing with the pandemic, because this post would go on forever.
Donald Trump lies like he tweets: erratically, at all hours, sometimes in malice, sometimes in self-contradiction, and sometimes without any apparent purpose at all. And, we have all witnessed his penchant to double down on his fabrications, even after being caught unquestionably in a lie. His “staff” of enablers have had to “walk back” hundreds of comments, tweets, rally claims and inane assertions over the last 4 years, but this is the guy that millions of Americans would follow into the seventh level of hades if he asked them to, and by the way, he is.  My American heart is broken.
