March 12, 1938 – February 17, 2021

Roy Dale Parrish, 82, of Summerfield, Florida, passed away February 17, 2021 at UF Health, The Villages Hospital in Lady Lake, Florida.  He was the husband of Carol Joyce O’Bryant Parrish for 62 years.

“Dale” was born in Anderson, Indiana, the son of the late Roy O. and Dorothy Parrish.  He was a member of the first graduating class of Anderson Highland High School in 1956.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960.  An employee of General Motors (Delco Battery and Delco Remy) for 31 years, Dale worked as a tool and die maker and mechanical engineer. He was very active in the Town of Chesterfield, Indiana, serving on the town board for six years and was involved with Little League baseball. In addition, he was a Freemason with membership at Lodge 730, Daleville, Indiana.  A faithful follower of Christ, Dale was a longtime member of Chesterfield Christian Church, and served as a deacon and elder at Northside Christian Church in Fruitland Park, Florida.  In 1996, he and Carol moved to Florida to enjoy retirement.

He was a friend and helper to all.  Along with his devotion to family and friends, his loves were music, old movies — especially westerns — and golf.  He was a skilled guitar player and singer, and a member of various golf leagues throughout the years.  On February 11, 2021, he scored his first hole-in-one at the age of 82.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mark Stephen Parrish.  He is survived by his loving wife Carol, his son Monte Parrish, Fishers, Indiana, daughter Teresa Meyer (Vance), St. Johns, Florida, grandsons Samuel and Noah Meyer, and siblings Sally Foley, Leesburg, Florida, Maxine Cubel, Gosport, Indiana, and Larry Parrish, Gosport, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, Florida on Friday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to Chesterfield Christian Church, 207 E. Plum Street, Chesterfield, IN  46017.

Golf course deserves a failing grade
