Eliminating corruption in government

To the Editor:

If we want to eliminate the lobbyist influence in our country, there should be a law that our politicians on all levels of government, cannot accept ANYTHING of value, other than their annual salaries and expenses that are paid by the taxpayers.  If they are caught receiving gifts from lobbyists or anyone seeking favors (regardless of the value) they must relinquish their position and give up any retirement benefits. If we don’t make this a hard and fast rule, our country will always be for sale.
