A man from Guatemala arrested on a charge of driving without a license after he was spotted pulling out of a Wawa parking lot.

Cirilo Rodriguez Gonzalez, 22, of Hawthorne, was driving a gray Ford Mustang at 2:32 p.m. Sunday and pulling out of the Wawa at U.S. 301 and County Road 466 in Oxford when an officer ran the license plate number and discovered the vehicle’s registered owner does not have a Florida driver’s license, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A traffic stop was initiated at the nearby Oxford Land Company on U.S. 301.

“The defendant spoke little English, and translated via Google Translate to me all he had was an ID card from Guatemala,” the officer wrote in the arrest report.

Gonzalez told the officer he has been living in Florida for three years.

He was arrested on a charge of driving without a valid license. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $150 bond.
