A Del Webb Spruce Creek man was arrested after a traffic stop near Brownwood.
Tyson Justin McCord, 40, was driving a tan pickup shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday when he was pulled over after cutting across both lanes of traffic at Meggison Road and State Road 44, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene of the traffic stop and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.
A search turned up a bag of methamphetamine in McCord’s pocket as well as a clear bulbous pipe with the residue of methamphetamine. McCord claimed he was suffering a medical emergency and was taken to the UF-The Villages Hospital ER at Brownwood.
Upon being medically cleared, he was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,000 bond.
