A man was arrested after he was spotted driving his girlfriend’s silver Mercedes-Benz.

Charles Gadson, 31, of Fruitland Park, was at the wheel of the vehicle Thursday afternoon on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when he was pulled over by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy. A check revealed that Gadson has had seven suspensions of his driver’s license and he has been classified as a habitual offender.

Gadson told the deputy he was aware his license was suspended, but he “had to drive the vehicle in order to go to work so he can feed his children,” the report said.

He was arrested on a third-degree felony charge of driving while license suspended. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
