Convicted golf cart thief arrested after allegedly stealing from landscaper

Brandon Fritzke

A convicted golf cart thief has been arrested after allegedly stealing equipment from a landscaper.

Brandon Dennis Fritzke, 38, of Lady Lake, was arrested on charges of burglary and theft on Wednesday after he was picked out in a photo lineup, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest was made at the Lake County Jail where Fritzke has been lodged since his arrest July 29 in the theft of a leafblower from a home in Grand Island.

A landscaper reported that he had been working July 28 at the Cypress Cove mobile home park in Leesburg when someone used a hammer to break out his driver’s side window. A Stihl BR600 motorized blower was taken from the vehicle with the thief fleeing in a small silver vehicle. A witness took notice of the vehicle’s specialty license plate. That license plate led to Fritzke being considered a suspect.

Following his arrest on the latest charges, he continued to be held at the jail, however his bond has been increased to $28,000.

The Minnesota native had been sentenced to jail time after the theft of a golf cart last year in The Villages. Fritzke had been arrested in 2019 when he was found to be in possession of drugs and a stolen Michigan license plate.
