Sumter County man killed after SUV gets stuck on train tracks

A Sumter County man was killed after his sport utility vehicle was struck by a CSX train when the vehicle got struck on train tracks.

The 62-year-old Bushnell man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash which occurred when his 2009 Ford Explorer “became disabled” on the railroad tracks which parallel U.S. 301 south of East Noble Avenue in Bushnell, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He got out of the vehicle and was trying to move it when the fatal collision occurred.
