Barbara E. Bolton, 78, of Oxford, FL passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on September 12, 2022. Barbara was born in Washington, D.C. on March 4, 1944, to her beloved parents, Lieutenant Colonel Emery and Dorothea (Cohill) Smith.

Barbara was a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church and was an avid gardener. Barbara loved the color turquoise, pink roses, daisies, blue birds and listening to oldies music. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants and even had four magnolia trees which she named after all four of her beloved grandchildren. Barbara took great pride in her family and was always there to show her support when they needed her. An active member of her community as well, Barbara enjoyed spending time in The Villages with her adoring friends with whom she loved to go dancing and play games.

Barbara and her husband William married on July 24, 1976 and were together for 45 amazing years until his passing in 2017. They truly had an amazing love story and were there for one another under any circumstance. Together, Barbara and Bill loved to travel to Biloxi, MS to play at the casinos and were also in The Villages Christmas Parade together as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Barbara and William always shared the meaningful words “I loved you then, I love you still, always have and always will.”

Barbara will be missed dearly by her family and friends for her caring and loving nature. Her grandchildren are happy to hold on to the amazing memories they shared, including how special Barbara and William made every Christmas.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Denise Hatcher of South Carolina, four beloved grandchildren; Brittany, Katilin, John Franklin, and Charles, five stepchildren; Cathy Bolton, Carol Bolton, Christine Bolton, William Bolton and Coleen Bolton, all of Virginia, and two great- grandchildren: Cayden and Paisley Stegall, four step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren, as well as a brother; Emery Smith and one Niece, Laya Curry.

She is preceded in death by her husband William and a daughter, Donna Marie Yow.
