A 72-year-old stroke victim was attacked in an angry battle over housework.
The woman, who suffered a stroke in December 2021 and has only minimal use of the left side of her body, was attacked Sunday afternoon by 51-year-old Minette Susan Allen, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
Allen was angry when the altercation occurred at the home the women share on James Avenue.
“I’m tired of hearing you say how crippled you are as an excuse. There are people who have it worse than you and still do more,” Allen reportedly told the older woman.
Allen lunged at the woman, grabbed her neck and caused her to fall backwards.
The stroke victim said they had been fighting over housework. The older woman said she does most of the housework, including cleaning out the cat’s litter box which is in Allen’s bedroom.
A criminal history check revealed that Allen was convicted in 2001 of domestic battery.
She was arrested on a felony charge of battery on a person over the age of 65. She was booked at the Lake County Jail on $2,500 bond.
